Beach Eagles

I always take my daughter down to Maple Beach in late April to do our own "Eagle count".

A couple of years ago the tide was out and the eagle parents were swooping down the cliffs in to the tidal pools to catch a little food for the fledglings that squaked anxiously on nearby rocks. This particular occassion was about as close to zen like as I have ever experienced. We counted forty-five eagles in the half hour we were there.

I would like to know why there appears to be so many young eagles around so early in the year?

Does anyone know? I walk my dog down at the beach every day and I do not recall seeing so many eagles young and old at this time of year. Maybe I haven't been paying attention.

Anyway, If you get a chance to go for a walk at a lowish tide, take your own eagle count....lots of fun!

Hey. I took your advice. Went down to the dike yesterday. 45 minute walk saw 18 eagles and 12 Blue Herron.

Well said!

Thinking very carefully with emotions intact, not overemphasized, is the key.

And, as you point out, it is for the kids.....always has been.

This is our Rubicks Cube..our Pet Rock and certainly our worry bead.

Look..wonder, and think very carefully of how you and your children can best live in this place.

What do you see?
