STV - Single Transferable Vote = MIO - Multiple Ignorance Occurance
Yup, I tried to figure it out, went to the website, watched the animation several times and thought about it for an afternoon. I didn't know about the website until I heard Jennifer Mather at CKNW chatting about it with a proponent of the STV. Yes, I'm know that there was a flyer received in the mail that attempted to explain it all but there was certainly no stickiness (as they say in marketing speak). In our circle of friends, the loose tally was that less than 1 in 10 really knew enough about it to speak with any kind of confidence. And, we think we are intelligent... there might be many who would argue with that.
It was disappointing to me not so much that it was good or bad, but that we - the great silent majority - weren't able to discuss this fruitfully over our weekend cocktails. In the world of business we would label this as an unsuccessful marketing campaign. No sales leads for the pipeline means no one buying into the pitch. Too bad for all of you volunteers - I was ready to listen, in fact - just about everyone was ready.
What does everyone else think?

NFI = No Friggin' Idea. Knew enough to start talking then quickly digressed into a mumbling mess. "You take the excess votes from one candidate and transfer them to the 2nd vote... and then a miracle happens.", "This will give all candidates to get a chance to be players...", "I am not sure how this will work with regard to having true local representation...", ummmmm... that's it. As thin as the miniscus.
