Upgrades to Centennial Beach

By Mike - Posted on 12 December 2008

I attended the last update from Metro Vancouver Parks regarding the update to Centennial Beach.

I have attended all of the presentations to date and am familiar with the plans to upgrade the concession business and possibly build a restaurant on existing leased land or on land owned by Metro Vancouver.

I have been following the process for a few years now.

I can only say that I am continually astounded to see the same faces show up at any meeting that intends to offer the possibility of change to our community.

I am shocked that the same people continue to cast the doom scenario on something that could be a fine addition to our community.

The reasons that these people provide are interesting but generally ill-informed rants.

If we were to take a poll of the community today I am absolutely convinced that a majority would be in favour of enhanced services at Centennial Beach which would include a full service restaurant, an expanded concession service and an upgraded restroom/changeroom component.

I still cannot believe how such a vocal few can suggest that they can influence a decision making process before due- diligence is allowed to continue.

Upgrades to Centennial Beach

I can't believe you would not want a restaurant at Centennial beach. It would be a welcome addition to our community.

I can't believe that people would not want a restaurant at Centennil Beach! I think it would be lovely and well attended.

I can't believe that you think that degrading an environmentally sensitive area so that people from outside of the community can come and eat an expensive meal!
