Southlands "Bike In" 2014

By BYCOOP admin - Posted on 08 September 2014

A great day for some bike riding! The second annual Southlands "Bike In" was a big hit yesterday and once again afforded opportunity for the Tsawwassen community to ride from upper Tsawwassen to Boundary Bay and partake in some fun activities including eating and drinking…two of my personal favourites. Burgers, dogs, fries, pulled pork and Mario's Kitchen salads with veggies grown by children were on the menu. A great turnout and an excellent opportunity for the community to get a sense of the lay of the land and imagine what a community built around agriculture could like. In the not too distant future, activities at the market square could be enjoyed weekly by all residents of Delta and elsewhere. Thanks to Century Group for hosting this wonderful event to fundraise for the REACH society.

I can hardly wait!I hope that there will be a farmers market of some description.

agreed a great route to the beach…..long overdue

I had no idea how large the Southlands property is. My family and I really enjoyed the event and are looking forward to riding to the beach and the market square soon.

I walked my dog down from 56 through the property and to the event and hen carried on to the lovely 3 foot low tide for a swim. What a fantastic opportunity this is to get to the beach!

As was the case last year, the most consistant observation from the bikers was how large the parcel of land is. The open space and agricultural lands dwarf the footprint of the housing component.

Lots of fun and the best thing was that all proceeds from various venue sales are going to the REACH society.
