Planning to Plant

By BYCOOP admin - Posted on 30 January 2014

A lively discussion about what to plant in the spring. The grade three learners at English Bluff and several other schools are starting to plan their neighbourhood school farms. Lots of good ideas so far and plenty of enthusiasm.

It is good for the kids to see and understand why everything can't be grown locally. It gives them a basic understanding of how trade works as well.

My neice and nephew are excited to plan their plantings. They are thinking Oranges and watermellons. Farming can be disappointing at times!

We are on the Edible Schoolyard Map!

We are looking forward to seeing what the children have in mind for planting in the coming months. Diagrams to follow!
