Morning Salad

By BYCOOP admin - Posted on 12 February 2016

The young farmers are planning what they are going to plant over the next few weeks. A great way to steer them along the way is to get them to tastes test the veggies before we seed. This morning 30 kids had some salad before recess at 10 AM. Todays batch included some early favourites including Romaine, Spinach, Radish and Carrots. Some red pepper and cucumber thrown in for good measure although they will planted in late spring. Everyone gobbled it up and there was not an ounce of salad dressing to be found anywhere.

Thay are certainly enjying the eating part!

Reading seed charts is not as easy as you would think. A good way to get the kids to visualize the planting and harvesting timeline is to get them to eat veggies prior to seeding so that the anticipation builds as the crops grow.
