Delta Agricultural Plan. Where are the new farmers?

By BYCOOP admin - Posted on 14 January 2012

The Delta Agricultural Plan is in the final stages of development and will soon be submitted to Metro Vancouver.

The Rural Urban interface always seems to be the main concern in discussions around farming but I am also interested in seeing how new entrants to the business can be recruited.

I am of the view that there needs to be more emphasis on exposing children to agriculture and new business models within it to build interest amongst potential farmers and business people.

Section 5.3 deals with this need to a certain degree but there needs to be more discussion amongst all channels of education at the local level and in the context of Provincial management.

The entire report is attached below.
