Arugula taste test

The boys didn't believe me when I told them Arugula was spicy! Now they know!

Today we gave a Project Pickle presentation to 90 kids at McClosky Elementary School. They are very keen to get their fingers dirty this year.

A very good resource indeed

Try them roasted with feta cheese and Kalamata olives

If you have some big beets as in width, try par boiling 1/2 inch slices and then grilling until slightly charred on each side. About a minute a side on high heat.

Place the thick slice on your burger with your fave condiments. Also, a great vegetarian choice instead of the burger. Just cut the slice a little thicker.

Yum yum!

Yes....some great resources here. Acyually, they are preparing a story on Project Pickle for their website and will be using various postings from our @dirtworking twitter feed. I will post the link just as soon as they have published the story.

There are some really good resources at the www.edibleschoolyard.com if you are interested in learning more about local school food stories

I am looking for some old school Bortsch recipes for the weekend. Anyone want to help out?

Running out of beet ideas so now I'm on to soups and stews. I've run the pickling gammit and have been grilling some too!

I won't be needing one today!

Beet greens, Arugula and Spinach all on the Deltasd37 harvest radar this week.

An especially great batch!
