Powerlines? What are those things on Hwy 17?
I am a little baffled by the BCTC plan to upgrade the wooden poles that bisect Tsawassen. There seems to be a big set of metal towers carrying powerlines to the shoreline by Highway 17 on the way to the ferry terminal. Couldn't that line take the extra voltage over to the Island?
Sidewalk tour a highlight this summer!
South Delta residents, join us for a tour of our new sidewalk!
This edifice to the continuing dedication to pedestrian safety extends a miraculous 50 metres from the front of somebody's house, past another house and on to the middle of a street!
Port Expansion crucial to glossy newspaper insert proliferation
Wham! The latest issue of our local paper hit the door the other morning. The dog had a paroxysm.
The editorial content of the paper hasn't changed much, but the inserts and new "belly-wrap" band flesh our local rag out into a weighty tome rivaling the New York Times for sheer bulk.
Yes, there were a few items in the shiny, colourful ads that interested me and even a few valuable coupons to clip that could save me valuable cents at the local grocery.
But holy jumpin' doodle! The plethora of print about stuff that I should be buying is rather daunting. I'm worried about my poor delivery persons risking lower back injury from hefting this mass.
Bike Helmets - parents need to set an example.
I heard an interesting item on the radio the other day. A brain surgeon said that, though brain injuries had dropped sharply after BC adopted the bicycle helmet law back in 1995, rates had risen to near the old levels lately. I'm not surprised. Though my family all wear their helmets when cycling, I see lots of folks cheerfully pedalling though traffic with bare heads. The worst example I've seen lately was a couple on their bikes, no helmets on either of them, with an infant in a backpack! Would these same folk just toss their child into the car without a seatbelt?
