Expanded Airport is a good thing! sticky icon

I belong to this "list-serve" that apparently deals with 'smart growth" issues.

It seems as though some in the smart growth community now have opinion on how our skies should grow as well. I recently read from one subscriber who likened the expansion plans of regional airports to a "gateway' like assault on the skies of the GVRD.

Happy Birthday you old "Coug"

Happy Birthday Cathy!

It's horrible what age brings! Your head used to be so...so normal in your thirties. Now that you are well in to your fourties it appears that there is a little more upkeep needed on that pea-head of yours.

Branson puts his chips on the "Climate Change" table

You know "Global Warming" is reaching the "fever pitch" when one of the greatest marketers in the world and creator of one of the best known brands jumps on the Bandwagon.

Richard Branson creator of the Virgin brand, sees opportunity through exposure. Is < a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2006/09/22/business/22climate.html?n=Top%2fNews%2fScience%2fTopics%2fGlobal%20Warming"> Sir Richard an environmentalist? He wears Levis and long hair and cotton sweaters, but let's just remember that he is a capitalist through and through. One of the best there is.

Puppy Love can be Good for You.

This is me when I am not bitching about something. Just woken up from a nap by my daughter who just got back from school.

I can't tell you happy I am to be holding a poo bag again! It has been a couple of years and I have forgotten how gratifying it is to be in the company of a growing puppy.

What a beauty of a Summer!

Alas, it will soon be over but not forgotten.

This had to be one of the driest sunniest summers on record. Unfortunately, the fall equinox arrives later this week and the sun will continue to fade lower and lower on the horizon.

Delsom Lands get Verbal Accolades from Mayor and Council sticky icon

I listened to our council discuss the merits of the < a href="http://www.corp.delta.bc.ca/assets/CPD/PDF/delsom_pim_handouts2.pdf">DELSOM DEVELOPMENT in North Delta the other night.

With the exception of Vicki Huntington who was concerned for the "little critters" that would be forced to move from the area when development began, I was encouraged by the thoughtful observations from our Mayor and Council.

Hey!..Who's in charge around here anyway?

Did you know that since time began, 99% of all species have since disappeared?

I'm not interested in getting in to a Darwinism VS. Benevolent Creator debate, but, can we take a look at our little piece of the Earth in South Delta and ask ourselves who is getting the most airtime?

"Routine" means little progress for our Community

Kids back at school...happy or sad? I am sad for another reason. I am sad because I hear people talking about being happy to get back to the "routine". I miss the rampant spontaneity and creativity that is present in a child's life when they are not governed by structure. New ideas hatched from unconfined mindsets have always been proven as beneficial.

Winskill Park in the News...What Does the "Coalition for a Better Way" want anyway?

I just finished reading the headline story at the < a href="http://www.southdeltaleader.com/">SOUTH DELTA LEADER and I must admit that I am confused. The user groups who know the needs of the children in this community and have walked the "Beach Grove Path" before would certainly be the ones that be able to best articulate any kind of comment on the best location for an artificial turf field.
